Northumberland Self-catering Holiday Cottages

Carol & Anthony would like to welcome you to our award winning customer of choice holiday Cottages. We are the owners & like to stay here most weekends and we love it!

We hope you enjoy our beautiful Cottages as much as we do.

West Lyham has three self-catering Northumberland holiday cottages situated halfway between Alnwick & Berwick to the North and midway between the coast at Bamburgh and the Cheviots at Wooler.

West Lyham Farm Cottages are in an idyllic position, with far reaching views over to the Cheviots to the west & to Chatton Park Hill & Lyham Crags to the East. South facing, it looks out over the fields across towards Chatton village.

Surrounded by stunning countryside to explore from right on the doorstep and being close to St Cuthbert’s Way, the area offers fabulous walks & leisurely rambles, with cyclists also being well provided for, as the area, including the Cheviots, offers some of the best mountain biking in Northumberland. Just up the road bouldering & climbing enthusiasts are well supplied by the crags & rocky outcrops of Lyham Moor. Nearby Chatton hosts a trout fishery, at Belford there is a golf course & horse riding, giving scope for plenty of activities right on the doorstep.

Castles are in abundance in this part of Northumberland, the nearest being Chillingham just 4 miles away, known as the ‘most haunted’ castle & famous for its herd of wild cattle & Italianate gardens. Other castles to explore nearby are Bamburgh & Dunstanburgh on the coast, Ford & Etal toward the border & not forgetting the famous Alnwick Castle & it’s gardens. Our holiday cottages are the perfect base to explore Northumberland & the surrounding areas.

Also ideal for those who just want some peace & quiet, lovers of nature & the famous dark skies of Northumbria, West Lyham cottages are the epitome of the phrase ‘far from the madding crowd’. Away from it all yet easily accessible, these holiday cottages are to be found on a quiet Northumberland country road with the odd farm vehicle passing from time to time, thus making it easily accessible and not forgetting for the supermarket delivery van!

About the Cottages

The cottages were in a sorry state when we bought them in 2015.
What we saw was the amazing views, the peace & quiet & solitude that surrounds the place.

The cottages went on to undergo a full makeover to bring them up to 21st century standards whilst retaining the cottagy feel. Every wall was stripped back, it was insulated, rewired & replumbed, & refloored – the whole process was a painstaking effort of love.

The cottages incorporates some eco features such as water from a bore hole, a small sewage system for the toilet waste, heating from both LPG and multi-fuel stove.

We want you to enjoy your stay to the full so if you have a query or any problem you can contact us directly on 07703 20 2236 (Anthony’s mobile no.)
